Safeguarding policy.
Effective Date: 01.09.2024
Eureka Tutoring is committed to providing a safe and supportive learning environment for all students. This Safeguarding Policy outlines our approach to protecting children, young people, and vulnerable adults who engage with our services.
1. Commitment to Safeguarding
At Eureka Tutoring, the safety and well-being of our students are our top priorities. We recognise our duty to protect students from harm and to promote a safe, respectful, and nurturing educational environment.
2. Tutor Background Checks
All tutors employed or contracted by Eureka Tutoring undergo thorough background checks, including a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, to ensure they are suitable to work with children and young people. We only work with tutors who have successfully passed these checks.
3. Code of Conduct
Our tutors are required to adhere to the following code of conduct to ensure the safety and well-being of our students:
Professional Boundaries: Tutors must maintain clear professional boundaries with students and avoid any behavior that could be misinterpreted or lead to a breach of trust.
Respectful Communication: Tutors must treat all students with respect and dignity, using appropriate language and behavior at all times.
Confidentiality: Tutors must respect the privacy of students and handle personal information with confidentiality, only sharing details when necessary for the student’s safety or educational support.
4. Online Safety
When delivering online tuition, our tutors follow strict guidelines to ensure a safe virtual learning environment:
Secure Platforms: All online lessons are conducted using secure, reputable video conferencing platforms.
Parental Involvement: We encourage parents or guardians to be present during online lessons or to monitor their child’s participation.
Recording Sessions: Online sessions may be recorded for safeguarding purposes, with prior consent from the student and their parents or guardians.
5. Reporting Concerns
If a tutor, student, or parent has concerns about the safety or well-being of a student, they should report it immediately to Gloria Pirvulescu. All concerns will be taken seriously and handled with discretion.
6. Responding to Disclosures
If a student discloses information regarding their safety or well-being, the tutor must:
Listen without judgment or interruption.
Reassure the student that they have done the right thing by speaking up.
Record the disclosure accurately and report it immediately to the Safeguarding Lead.
Not promise confidentiality if the issue needs to be escalated to protect the student.
7. Training and Awareness
Eureka Tutoring ensures that all tutors are aware of our Safeguarding Policy and receive appropriate training to recognise and respond to safeguarding issues. Regular updates and training sessions are provided to keep our team informed of best practices and legal requirements.
8. Review of Policy
This Safeguarding Policy will be reviewed annually or as needed to reflect changes in legislation or best practices. We are committed to continuously improving our safeguarding procedures to ensure the highest standards of protection for our students.
